In today’s world, pursuing an education to better yourself and your future potential is a dream that can seem unattainable. For some, it is a matter of time. There just isn’t enough of it, and you still need to earn a living. For others, the burden is a financial one. The expense of tuition, books and lost wages adds up quickly. These are just a couple of the many reasons that might discourage someone from seeking the kind of education that could ultimately lead to a better career, and a better quality of life.

The County of Riverside Educational Support Program makes pursuing your educational and career goals easier. Our focus is on meeting the needs of the County’s workforce now and in the future with educated, professional employees.  The mission of the Educational Support Program is to encourage employees to pursue career and education goals relevant to the County’s needs, focusing on careers designated by Departments as Difficult-to Recruit or Retain (DTR).  The designated positions may currently be DTR’s, while others may be positions that are projected as being future DTR positions due to retirement and a lack of qualified, educated employees to fill professional and management level positions.  The Educational Support Program staff will collaborate with departments to identify specific staffing needs in an effort to develop specialized educational programs with colleges and universities.

Qualified participants meet with the County Career Counselor, Shondi Lee, who gives them the expert guidance needed to make the most of every aspect of the career resources we have to offer.
