If a holiday falls on your normal working day, and you are off that day, you receive eight hours of holiday pay, if you're full-time. So, if your usual shift on that day is nine hours, you must generally deduct one hour from banked holiday, vacation, or comp time, in order to get your normal nine hours pay for that day. If the holiday falls on your normal day off, you would accrue eight hours of holiday time as a leave balance. If you are scheduled to work on a holiday, you are credited with holiday hours, up to eight hours, in addition to being paid for the number of hours worked.
When December 25 and January 1 fall on Thursdays, Fridays are additional holidays, or if they fall on Tuesdays, the preceding Mondays are also holidays. Friday or Monday becomes a holiday (instead of the weekend day) if any of the following days fall on Saturday or Sunday: January 1, February 12, July 4, November 11 or December 25.
