This policy outlines the limits within which the County will handle individuals’ health information. Generally, the County may use and disclose health information, as allowed under state and federal law, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), for treatment, payment, health care operations, and health plan administration. All County employees are expected to abide by this policy and state and federal law with regard to the use and disclosure of individually identifiable health information maintained by the County for both County employees and the public.
